In order to structure matters I would appreciate it if everyone who is offering support or discounts to former Dell employees list them as a comment to this post.

It would also be good if you created a personal or organisation profile so that people can get more details if they want to.

My name is Patrick Barry from Barrton LTD in Cork. We are an associate partner with the IMAGINE GROUP, which is a 100% Irish owned company and the No 1 alternative to Eircom in the market place.

We work jointly with IMAGINE in gathering both business and residential customers and are paid per account directly by IMAGINE for our efforts. We would like to offer the opportunity of doing the same to the people in Dell who have recently received the terrible news of being made redundant. There is normally a €99 euro fee to register with IMAGINE but any person that is made redundant from Dell we would work something out for them and get them on the way of earning an income immediately. The earnings are totally up to individual themselves but they would get paid their commissions on regular basis. IMAGINE have an highly trained sales force that works directly with us and it is IMAGINE who will actually sign up the business and residential customer for us i.e call to a business and fill out the forms.

Just as a point of information, Gaelic Telecom which is a means for GAA clubs to fundraise is actually a subsidiary of the IMAGINE Group, as is Irish Broadband. The IMAGINE group has clients such as the AIB, McDonalds, SherryFtiz.... but to name a few.

We would like to offer the opportunity to the people of Limerick. If you could be of any assistance in sharing this information with them it would be greatly appreciated. We regularly have information nights in Cork and could arrange one for Limerick if you feel that people are already looking for what to do next. We would just need to publicize it so that we can get as many people attending as possible. I was looking on the internet to see if there was any support group or organization setup for the people who are going to be made redundant and Everts one is the only one I could.

I hope the future is bright for the people of Dell and the Limerick area.

Dear future ex-Dell superstar

Many a business has grown from situations just like this. When Digital (DEC) left Galway many years ago a lot of great companies formed from the ex-DEC employees. There has never been a better time to start a business. Yes really. I started my first business in 1992 smack bang in the middle of a recession. and it did just great. As you can see there are lots of entrepreneurs out there willing to share their experiences and give you a fast track to the winners circle. If you've got any business idea whatsoever ping one of us on this group and we will help you on your way!

Offers/Skills:- Print advertising / Publicity

Hi, I'd be happy to offer free publicity for any new start ups in the Tipp Tatler (free magazine circulating in North Tipperary) or our new nationwide magazine Life and Fitness (first issue out this month) along with any other help or advice that may be of use.

Hi, Aileen from SortMyBooks here - this is a great initiative and I am happy to throw our hat into the ring, thanks for the link Evert.

We run a Solo Sales course - its sales projections for the one man/one woman band to help them figure out what to charge and how many units of product/service hours they need to sell to maintain a particular lifestyle, incorporating home budget, taxes etc. It's particularly useful for those switching from paye to self employment (to help factor in no more paid holidays, having to chase up for payment, self employed tax, Vat etc.)

I know its early days, but when the time comes we are happy to sponsor a Solo Sales course in Limerick for ex Dell employees that are considering self employment. There can about 20 on a course to be comfortable, it's a full day course. Great thread.

I'll gladly help anyone starting up a new business with website marketing and promotion information, advice and know-how as part of this initiative. Online marketing is a very effective form of marketing, and can be very cost-effective for start-up companies. We will also help people to use SEO to promote their blogs and Soc Med networks if they are using this as a route-to-market.

I've been running an online business for the last 8 years and while I'm not an expert at anything I'm a jack-of-all-trades online so if I can help anyone in that respect please shout.

Secondly, I started a new project this year which received backing from Social Entrepreneurs Ireland (SEI). It should be noted that SEI don't insist on their projects being not-for-profit and, indeed, they're more than happy to support social projects pursuing a for-profit model. So, if anyone has an idea that might fit their requirements [see www.socialentrepreneurs.ie] please let me know if I can help with your application or otherwise advise you.
